Your guide to the upcoming gemeente elections

Your guide to who can vote and where

For local elections, more internationals can vote than commonly known. If you're registered with the municipality (BRP) and you fit either of these criteria, you're allowed to vote!

- EU citizen

- Non-EU citizen living here for five years

You vote by visiting one of the voting stations with your voting pass and ID on Wednesday March 18th. Didn't receive a voting pass? Check your registration with the BRP, send an email to inwoners@tilburg.nl and go to the Stadswinkel with your ID before March 17th.

What the municipality does and what you can influence

Local governance decides where the budget goes and what policies to focus on. They have a large local impact compared to nationwide politics. Hence, with your vote, you (in)directly influence local policy making.

The 'gemeenteraad' (municipal council) is formed based on the votes during the local elections. Each vote counts since 45 seats will be divided relative to the amount of votes gathered. Your vote influences which party members can join this council and make impact for you.

We explained this more in our info session. Download the presentation via the button below. Curious which parties joined? Scroll down and see an overview of the parties with a link to their program/site.
