About the Event
FMeditation is the practice focusing one’s mind for a period of time, the art of which can bring about a feeling of deep relaxation and inner peace, which can improve mental health.
Scientific research has shown that is has been effective in dealing with emotions, such as anger and fear. Moreover, it has been found to regulate STRESS by working on the sympathetic nervous system.
Apart from the physiological effects of meditation, it can also lead to an increase in creativity, and connection with the "inner self."
About your facilitator:
Neeta Maharaj (Drs) is a psychologist who is qualified in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. Apart from understanding the psychological benefits of meditation, Neeta has trained in the traditional approaches to meditation. She began her training in meditation with a traditional Theravada monk back in 2008. Since then, she has been a practitioner who also took lay vows as a dedication to working on herself and the world at large. Under the stewardship of the monk, she became a mindfulness teacher for young women in prison, teaching them to use mindfulness as a tool for dealing with anger and stress.
