About the Event
On Sunday, 24 August, the second Museumgasten (Museum Guests) on Magdalena Abakanowicz will take place. For this edition, TextielMuseum invited co-curator Marta Kowalewska from Warsaw and our own curator Sjouk Hoitsma. They will show and discuss the full documentary made especially for this expo, which includes unique footage from Abakanowicz's private archive. Together, we dive deeper.
In the exhibition 'Everything is made of fibre', on the work and life of Polish artist Magdalena Abakanowicz, you will explore an extraordinary person with an impressive oeuvre. Abakanowicz was a strong woman with a powerful visual language that touched many.
During the research for the exhibition, films from the artist's private archive surfaced. Parts of them can be seen in the exhibition. But for Museumgasten, co-curator Marta Kowalewska will host a unique viewing of the full films and provide you with explanations.
