LIFE SKILLS WORKSHOP

Time & Location

Mar 15, 2022, 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM GMT+1

Tilburg University, 5042 RW Tilburg, Netherlands

About the Event

Are you still studying? Are you starting to think about your career? As we all know, university prepares you up until a point, academically. However, many of us lack the necessary skills to excel and thrive in the working world, and in our life.

We have designed a highly interactive workshop that will challenge you to escape your comfort zone and help you develop the most sought-after skills in the Dutch labor market, and help you prepare for life in general.

Did you know that most hiring decisions are based 40-60% on your soft skills? Why jeopardize all that hard work, sweat and tears during exam periods to only crash and burn during a job interview only because your soft skills could have needed some more polishing? On a more serious note, soft skills are extremely important for your career. Nowadays, employers seek people that are highly adaptable to fast changing conditions, brilliant communicators, innovative thinkers, and valuable team members.

Currently, the higher education system is built in a way that it conveys specialist knowledge and skills in a way that is above all suited for those students who plan to stay in academia. Together with Neeta Maharaj, the head of the well-being task-force at the ICT, I have developed a workshop that will help every student, in any study track, on the way to becoming a true professional. We want you to lay the groundwork for your personal development through a series of 5 free workshop sessions with us. These workshops will assist you to actualize your aspirations by being taught how to put university acquired knowledge into practice and sell your ideas convincingly. To use a cliché – practice makes perfect.

We would be happy to welcome you to join this priceless experience – not only because it is literally for FREE, but also because we believe it will enrich both your prospective career and your life in general. All you need to do is commit one-day a week.

Terms & Conditions for participation

Who can participate?

This pilot version of the workshop is only available for current students of Tilburg University.

No costs

This workshop is completely for FREE. One of the reasons is that this is the pilot version of the workshop.

What does that mean?  This is the first time the workshop will be delivered. That does not mean it is of lesser quality. We have developed this workshop based on half a year of thorough research and intensive work and we are convinced we have developed a STRONG program that will help you build your soft skills. It is time to let our baby bird fly.

Deposit

To be clear, the workshop is free of charge. However, we will ask you to pay a deposit of 15€ before the start of the workshop, which you will get back once the 2nd data collection is finished, at the end of April.

Why do we ask you to pay a deposit?

We have put in a lot of work in this workshop, there are costs involved in providing the workshop material and the data collection is crucial for the success of the Master’s thesis. Therefore, we want to increase commitment and make sure people show up once registered, and do not take the spot away from someone else. Once the workshop has started and you wish to drop out you can do so by canceling and you will still get the full 15€ deposit back. If you don’t cancel, we cannot refund the deposit.

Data Collection

I, Letizia, am an Intern at the ICT and soon to be graduating my Master’s program Positive Psychology and Well-being. This workshop is part of my Master’s thesis.

What does that mean for you?

We will collect data both to improve the workshop in the future and for my Master’s thesis. Therefore, in order to participate you will have to participate in 2 points of data collection, which means filling out a questionnaire 1 week before the start of the workshop and 1 week after the end of the workshop (1h max). By registering for the workshop you agree to participate in the research.

COVID policy

We will follow the current guidelines announced by the government and the university.  We are hoping to work with you in person, however, if necessary, we will switch to online.
